Brief Description
a. The envelope is addressed to: Rev E (Edmond) Webb, Cheviot. The envelope has two one penny stamps attached to top right hand corner with: Gisborne 2 February 1898 stamped across them.
b. The letter is addressed to: My dearest Edmond & Edith from your affectionate mother Maria (known as Patty) Webb, the Vicarage, Gisborne. In the letter Maria records her health and remedies, Dora (her daughter) having left, Alice (Webb) and Eva returning from holiday, a cyclone Gisborne experienced that afternoon and the effects of it on the township, visitors, bottling and making gifts of greengage plums into jam, an invitation to an 'At Home' from Mrs Barker, Norsewood School and Dora, Mr and Mrs Barnard and their daughter Molly leaving for Gore where Mrs Barnard will open a little fancy shop. Patty ends the letter by hoping that Edith is not suffering from headaches.
