Brief Description
The autograph album belonged to Alexander Duncan Henderson, known as Duncan, who was the backstage electrician responsible for all lighting, including stage, at the Hastings Municipal Theatre (now the Hawke’s Bay Opera House) from 1937 - 1973.
The autograph book contains the names of all, or most of, the performers from May 1937 – 11 May 1971. One of the last entries celebrates Duncan’s 70th birthday and contains the names of those working at the theatre at that time. The cast of performers of local productions and ballets have signed the book along with important New Zealand people and artists such as Inia Te Wiata and Sidney Holland. Intermingled with the autographs are several sketches. The book is made up of several albums bound together.
