Brief Description
The folder is made up of pages with material sewn to them. Each piece of material has a sample stitch required in needlework. The folder appears to be for an examination as it has: Class C Housekeepers written on it. Elizabeth M L Webb is the seamstress. Most of the pieces of work have been stamped with the date 12 March 1887.
The sewing is: French seam, run and fell, continuous placket, cross cut binding and false hem, cotton patch and mitred corner, print patch, flannel patch and prevention darn, button and buttonhole tapes, satin stitch and pin stitch, darning hole initialling (sic) and hemstitching and knitting. There is a loose piece of weaving, a piece of smocking and cross cut binding.
