Object detail
Brief Description
The letter is addressed to: Dear old Master and Mistress. These people are perhaps Reverend Anthony Spur Webb and his wife Maria (Patty) Webb. The letter is dated 5 June 1884 and is written by Mary Banbury.
Mary writes that she: has been so troubled this last week that (she) has been tempted to ask God to take herself and her babe out of this sinful world. She read the letter they sent to Leonard Neal (Neale). Old John asks to be remembered and that he would like to see them again but knows he will not until he sees them in heaven. The Roger family buried their little boy and three other children have died this week. Mary likes to hear of the little children's deaths as it means they will not experience any pain.
