Brief Description
The letter is written by Leonard and Frances Neale, Stockingford to Anthony Spur and Maria (Patty) Webb, 6 October 1884.
The writer of the letter thanks Mr and Mrs Webb for the letter they have received from them and commiserates with them for the death of Willie Webb. They had heard about the death of Willie before the Webb family, who were sailing out to New Zealand. The writer of the letter is states: but thanks be to God your loss is his eternal gain for we were so fully persuaded that when at Stockingford he had given his Heart to Jesus. They were pleased to hear that the Webb family were glad they had moved to New Zealand, they had laughed at learning that Anthony had to ride a horse. The writer then discusses the changes at Stockingford, the new Vicar as well as local gossip mainly around the local Anglican church. At the bottom of the letter is a note addressed to Mrs Webb thanking her for her kindness and asking her to give her love to the family.
