Object detail

Brief Description
a. The letter is written by Maria Paterson to Miss Flora Faulkner, 1 July 1856. Maria communicates to Flora that Mrs Baker's daughter has been staying with her and become ill and subsequently died. Maria hopes that Marianne Baker died rejoicing in her Saviour. Maria went to see her before she died but to her great vexation she could scarcely say a word, only cry. Maria then discusses her relationship with a young gentleman named Mr Webb, about pleasant conversations and walks, however they have no intention of falling in love with each other as he is much younger than she is. On another occasion Mr Webb took her to supper.

b. The envelope is addressed to Miss Faulkner, 2 Lindsey Houses, Chelsea, London. The stamp has been removed from the envelope. The stamp date is 2 July 1856. The red seal has not been broken.
