The letter is written by Charles Tate to an unnamed aunt. Charles is a child and he tells his aunt about seeing a squirrel. He finishes with love and kisses to his Mama, his aunt, papa, uncles and all and signs it: I am your nephew Charles W H Tate, 1860.
