Hardie writes about being on operation for over a month at time of writing, transistor radios, comparing how he sleeps versus how his platoon leader sleeps, taking leave in Vung Tau and Hong Kong, only receiving letters while in the field, Bruce Liddall going home to Hastings, details on how his current meal is being made in the field, being resupplied the next day, usual resupply rations, his first meal while in Singapore, weather in the region and the wet season, new individuals learning from the more experienced soldiers and the body count for the latest operation.
