Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Hardie Martin to his parents in Napier dated 25 January 1968.

a) Hardie writes about going on a training exercise through the jungle and up a hill, rationing during the exercise, contending with leeches, describing tigers and honey bears, having his pay corrected by his sergeant, men from his platoon being sent to Vietnam attached to other units, a backlog of mail for the unit, items to be sent over for him, British units leaving the area, becoming sunburnt, food being served at the base, receiving a cholera booster shot and weather in the area.

b) Envelope addressed to Mr and Mrs M R Martin, 8 Ellison Street, Napier, New Zealand. Includes an Air Mail stamp, Malaysian post office stamp, Malaysian postal stamp and Hardie Martin's details on reverse. Written on Air Mail envelope.
