a) Bernard writes about camp life, taking a days leave to visit a seaside town, quality of wine, Italian soldiers and civilians as allies instead of enemies, religious beliefs and customs, the supply situation regarding food and tobacco, mail received from New Zealand for the past few months, plans for Christmas, asks after Moira and Judy and asks how their favourite football teams have been faring.
Written on New Zealand YMCA/National Patriotic Fund Board/On Active Service letterhead.
b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes a postage stamp and censor's stamp. Written on YMCA/On Active Service letterhead.
