Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 3 October 1943.
a) Bernard writes about recovering in hospital, rainfall followed by a heat wave in the area, a visit from an individual from Napier, Batt O'Rourke being promoted to sergeant, thanks the family for photographs, not knowing where Bill has travelled to, the National Patriotic Board tobacco scheme and hopes of returning to the unit next week.
b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes three censor's stamp, a censor's sticker and postage stamp. Signed by Bernard Madden acknowledging prerequisites for sending post.
