Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 2 May 1943.

a) Bernard writes about returning to hospital with stomach pains again, lack of action in Tunisia, his travels across the desert, being transported by ship along the Mediterranean, a description of the hospital he is quartered in, Bill's movements in the area, why he hasn't been promoted, possibly taking a trip to Cairo for relaxation, speculation of being redeployed to the Pacific after the Tunisian campaign is finished, asking after the family, waiting for pictures of the family and hearing nothing about Ray.

b) Envelope addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes a censor's stamp and postage stamp. Written on Red Cross/On Active Service letterhead.
