About this object
Photograph of damaged buildings along Marine Parade in Wairoa taken in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake of 3 February 1931. A handwritten note on the back of the photograph identifies the buildings as the premises of, from left to right, Moors, Jones Bookshop, and Humphrey Furniture Shop. The buildings collapsed as a result of the quake. People can be seen cleaning up debris on the right side of the photograph.
