About this object
View of Hastings Street, Napier, taken in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931. The photograph has been taken near the intersection with Dickens Street, looking north. The premises of B Haynes, butcher, is located along the right side of the street in the foreground. The building in the left foreground is possibly the Post Office. The street is littered with rubble. The tram lines are just visible beneath the debris. Napier Hill can be seen in the distance.
