About this object
View of damaged buildings taken in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake on 3 February 1931. The photograph is thought to have been taken along Marine Parade in central Napier, looking towards Hastings Street. The branches of a Norfolk Island Pine tree are visible on the left hand side of the image. In the foreground, a building has been reduced to rubble. Clouds of dust or smoke rise from the rubble.
