Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 28 October 1942.

a) Bernard talks about being kept at hospital for another week, trying to sneak away with Bill back to his unit, weather in the region, the second Battle of El Alamein, a trip to Haifa with a tour of the wharves and Mount Carmel, a trip around Jewish farms in the Jezreel Valley, a brief description about beliefs in the area and Father Callaghan returning from hospital. Also notes the Madden's in Foxton were affected by the recent earthquake and asks after local individuals.

Written on YMCA, National Patriotic Fund Board/Active Service letterhead.

b) Envelope addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes a censor's stamp and postage stamp. Written on YMCA letterhead.
