Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 10 September 1942.
a) Bernard writes about returning to hospital with diarrhoea, not seeing much action at the front, lack of mail, thinking about Christmas presents to buy for the family, the journey to the the hospital via truck and rail, not being able to get New Zealand tobacco, confessing to Tom of losing his tobacco pipe, having healthy credit again, asking after new arrivals in the family and Moira, as well as wishing the family well.
b) Envelope addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes a censor's stamp and postage stamp. Signed by Bernard Madden acknowledging the terms for posting.
