Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 30 August 1942.
a) Bernard writes about life in the desert, aerial dogfights and capturing a downed Italian airman, taking Mass at an aid station nearby his position, receiving a five pound note he asked for and a patriotic parcel, as well as cooking for the troops that night.
b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs L M Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Envelope has a censor's stamps and a postage stamp. Written on Church Army letterhead.
