Brief Description
Letter from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 28 June 1942.
a) Bernard wishes his mother a happy birthday and tells the family not to worry about Erwin Rommel's capture of Tobruk and advance through the Western Desert. Bernard writes about still being in hospital with foot problems, the weather in the region, an earthquake in New Zealand (Wairarapa earthquake), the arrival of Les Clarburt, Father Callaghan organising a trip to Jerusalem, writing a letter to Pat Madden and wishing the family well.
b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes two censor's stamp and a postage stamp. Signed by Bernard Madden accepting conditions for posting.
