Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 6 June 1942.

a) Bernard talks about still being on convalescent leave in the hospital, being promoted a grade, returning to his unit soon, army drills and route marches, the desert heat, details of a letter from Phil, possible locations to go on leave, entertainment provided by locals, not having heard from Bill Madden in a while and having sent tobacco to Pat Madden in Italy.

Printed on Church Army letterhead.

b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes a censor's stamp and postage stamp. Written on Order of St John/Red Cross Society letterhead.
