Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family in Napier dated 1 May 1942.
a) Bernard writes about being laid up in hospital, that surgery may not be necessary, the area he is staying in Syria, describes in detail the flower blooms in Syria and Palestine, Bill Madden finishing up his course soon, Frank Bennie escaping from Crete and having relapses of malaria, asking after individuals in the Napier area and wishing the family well.
b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs P J Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Includes two censor's stamps and a postage stamp. Written on Church Army letterhead.
