Letter from Leonore and Reilly of Hawera to Bernard Madden dated April 1942.

Leonore talks about how the family is faring, taking a trip to Palmerston North for Easter, Pat Madden being taken prisoner, wishes Bernard well from his bout influenza, asks after Johnny Hayes, tells of how the war effort in New Zealand could use a boost and how her father's surgery has been postponed.

Reilly writes about placing bets at the races and updates Bernard on the family and friends.
