Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Bernard Madden to his family from Egypt dated 11 September 1941.

a) Bernard talks about being reassigned to Pat Madden's regiment, being trained at the Artillery Training Depot, receiving letters and news from home, staying in camp and going on route marches rather than visiting Cairo, descriptions of the Nile, visiting Pat with Bill Madden, taking the trains in and out of the area and wishes the family well in New Zealand.

Letter has been censored on first page due to location given.

Written on YMCA letterhead and noted as on active service.

b) Envelope is addressed to Mrs P Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay. Entitled: Per Air Mail, On Active Service. 9 pence stamp included with postage stamp over top. YMCA logo as letterhead.
