a) Letter talks of first impressions of Cairo, being a guard for an Italian POW camp with impressions of the Italian prisoners, Bill Madden having the same guard job but Pat Madden being left behind at camp, visiting the town of Maadi, information on air-mail and news from home being picked up in Egypt, visiting a spa in the area, cost of items in Egypt and Moira starting kindergarten.
b) Envelope entitled: On Active Service. Sent to Mrs L M Madden, 21 Macdonald Street, Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. By Airmail/Par Avion.
