Map by Patrick Grant entitled: Plan of Distribution of Forest Types - Saltwater SF 40. Dated 1948 to 1949.
Major features include the Tasman Sea, Saltwater Lagoon (Hikimutu Lagoon), Wataroa River, Lake Joan, Lake Darby, Lake Rotokino and Mount Hercules. Map shows types of forests in subject area but legend does not provide details of numbering system.
Note on map states: This plan has been compiled from aerial photographs and is subject to local distortion errors. The SF boundary is somewhat distorted hereon, and in certain parts requires amendment on the ground (re: survey).
