Brief Description
Map of Marlborough Sounds published by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey. Dated September 1964. Includes a dust jacket.

a) Map shows the geological make up of land around Marlborough as Sheet 14 in the New Zealand Geological Survey series. Major landmarks shown include Farewell Spit, Tasman Bay, D'Urville Island, Cook Strait, Cloudy Bay and the Pelorus Regional Anticline.

Includes a geological legend showing Lithology of Quaternary, Tertiary, Mesozoic and Palaeozoic eras. Geological symbols include Contact, Faults, Folds, Bedding, Schistosity, Bedding and Schistosity Combined, Important Fossil Locality, Mine, Quarry or Alluvial Workings, Prominent Limestone and Conglomerate Band. Includes two cross-section views of the subject area.

Includes brief descriptions of Physiography and Stratigraphy of different geological sections. Inset map shows number and location of subject map as well as an index to NZMS1 series.
