Brief Description
Map of Golden Bay published by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey. Dated August 1961. Includes a dust jacket.

a) Map shows the geological make up of land around Golden Bay as Sheet 13 in the New Zealand Geological Survey series. Major landmarks shown include Karamea Bight, Golden Bay, Farewell Spit and the Tasman Mountains.

Includes a geological legend showing Upper Pleistocene and Recent Gravels, Cainozoic and Mesozoic Sedimentary Rocks, Pre Cambrian and Lower Palaeozoic Sedimentary and Volcanic Rocks and Metamorphic and Intrusive Rocks. Includes geological symbols such as Faults, Folds, Bedding (Strike and Dip), Schistosity and Foliation, Lineation, Bearing and Plunge, Fossil Locality and Mine, Quarry or Alluvial Workings.

Includes information on geology including Precambrian and Palaeozoic Stratigraphy, Metamorphic Rocks, Intrusive Rocks, Structure of Palaeozoic Rocks, Metamorphism of Palaeozoic Rocks, Mesozoic Stratigraphy, Tertiary and Early Pleistocene Stratigraphy, Late Quaternary Stratigraphy and Economic Geology. Diagrammatic sections of Pleistocene levels and references are also included.
