Brief Description
The New Zealand Rough Diary No. 3, 1916 belonged to a Webb family member and Maria Webb. On the front of the diary is written A J Webb. Maria writes some of the entries. The details of the diary record the family's daily routine at Ormondville, family members: Maria (known as Patty) who was the children's mother, a brother Edmond and sisters Edith, Annie, Elizabeth, Dora and Alice. The family was very involved in Anglican church activities and information is part of the content. Visitors are listed and daily comings and goings of the community. Each day the weather is described, as is the well-being of Maria, who is elderly and unwell. Small snippets of information are tantalisingly given such as on 2 August: Heard that little Phillip Holt is very ill with bronchitis & they had to get a trained nurse for him.
In the front of the diary is printed information about New Zealand postal regulations, phases of the moon, Post Office Savings Bank, telegrams, the Government Cabinet, the Legislative Council, Government Departments, Government Acts, Elections of Local Bodies and Births, Deaths and Marriages.
