Brief Description
The book of essays is titled: The Ormondville Christmas Annual, 1885. Intermingled with the essays are pen sketches.
The list of essays are titled:
A Sermon preached before the Synod of the Diocese of Waiapu by the Reverend A S Webb, 29 September 1885.
Objects found on the sea shore at Napier by Annie Millicent Webb. Above the title is a sketch titled: The Bluff Napier. At the end of the essay is a sketch of Solander Island, the first land we sighted in New Zealand.
Our House and Grounds at Ormondville by Edith Constance Webb. There are two sketches titled: The expulsion of Cholmondeley from the garden and view of our house from the back garden.
The Life of Cholmondeley by Alice F Webb - a poem. At the end is a sketch titled: And Jock the Makotoku horse did have a feed of chaff so coarse.
New Zealand Recreations by Elizabeth Dora Webb. At the end of the essay is a sketch showing two people riding horses.
The Noble Savage by Edmondson Webb. In the middle of the essay is a sketch of a man on a horse.
Napier Described by Mary F Webb.
Ormondville by Mrs A S Webb. In the middle of the essay are two sketches. The first shows a team of eight bullocks pulling a dray. In front stands a man and a dog. The second is a sketch of the church and the Webb house.
On the first page of the book is a sketch of Ormondville and at the back is a key to the buildings shown in the sketch.
Some of the the sketches are signed J W. This is Jim Webb. Others are signed H H Webb (Tom) James Webb.
