The portrait is of an unidentified Māori woman probably from the Thames area. She has a hei tiki around her neck, a moko kauae on her chin and around her lips and feathers in her hair. Around her shoulders is a korowai.

Date, unknown. Foy Brothers operated between 1872-1902.
