About this object
A photograph of the Country Queen, Mrs Gladys Elizabeth Jane Hudson, taken at Windsor Park in Hastings on 8 November 1952. One of four carnival queens, the Country Queen was crowned the winner of the Hastings and District War Memorial Appeal, Queen Carnival Campaign. The photograph was taken during the presentation of the sceptre and the orb. The Country Queen is shown seated. The Lord High Chamberlain, Mr Pedro de Treend, and the Lord High Chancellor, Mr Les Fisher, stand on either side of the dais.
