About this object
A photograph of the Country Queen, Mrs Gladys Elizabeth Jane Hudson, taken at Windsor Park in Hastings on 8 November 1952. One of four carnival queens, the Country Queen was crowned the winner of the Hastings and District War Memorial Appeal, Queen Carnival Campaign. The photograph was taken on stage during the crowning ceremony. The Lord High Chamberlain, Mr Pedro de Treend, is shown reading a proclamation.
