About this object
A photograph of the Country Queen, Mrs Gladys Elizabeth Jane Hudson, taken at Windsor Park in Hastings on 8 November 1952. One of four carnival queens, the Country Queen was crowned the winner of the Hastings and District War Memorial Appeal, Queen Carnival Campaign. The photograph was taken after the announcement as she made her way back to the stage to be crowned. She wears a long velvet cloak trimmed with white fur. The train of the cloak is carried by two boys, thought to be Rex Hagenson and Dale Porteous.
