About this object
The glass plate negative is a portrait of two identified Māori women. Written on the original photograph is: Te Reho and Waeroa at Tokaanu. Both women are dressed in Victorian clothing and the younger of the two is holding a mere. They could be mother and daughter. Tokaanu is a settlement at the south end of Lake Taupo, five kilometres west of Tūrangi.
