About this object
The photograph shows the demolition of the original entrance to the Hawke's Bay Art Gallery and Museum. The architect of the 1936 Art Deco building was James Augustus Louis Hay. The entrance was converted into a loading bay and the original doors were removed and reinstated into the new building.
