About this object
A photograph of the Commerce Queen float that featured in the Blossom Week procession held in Hastings on 13 September 1952. The procession was held as part of the Hastings and District War Memorial Appeal, Queen Carnival Campaign. The Commerce Queen, Mrs Jean Wright (née Ballantyne), stands on the float surrounded by her three attendants, Misses Meryn Kirkpatrick, Ann Nelson and Margaret Rainey, and a group of maids.

The photograph has been taken on Heretaunga Street West, with the premises of Baird's Drapery and the Clock Tower (completed 1935) in the background.
