About this object
A photograph of a gig pulled by a donkey taken during the Blossom Week procession held in Hastings on 13 September 1952. The procession was held as part of the Hastings and District War Memorial Appeal, Queen Carnival Campaign. A sign on the back of the float reads: Don't be an ass, Vote Country Queen. The female driver is identified on the album page as Mrs Stent. The Ruahine Building (built 1937) on Heretaunga Street West can be seen in the background.
