About this object
A photograph of a bird's nest thought to have been taken at Tutira Station on 25 October 1910. A note on the album page identifies the nest as belonging to a sparrow hawk. This note likely refers to the kārearea or New Zealand falcon (Falco novaeseelandiae). Eggs are visible on the nest. Native plants, including ferns and a cabbage tree (Cordyline australis), are visible on the bank around the nest.

The photograph is mounted in an album titled: Photographs of birds on Tutira Station.

Photographer, Herbert Guthrie-Smith.
