About this object
A photograph of two mātātā or fernbirds (Bowdleria punctata) thought to have been taken at Tutira Station in the early twentieth century. The bird on the right is about to feed the bird on the left, which is possibly a juvenile. The pair are possibly perched in a clump of toetoe.
