About this object
A photograph of a family of silvereyes or wax-eyes (Zosterops lateralis) thought to have been taken at Tutira Station in the early twentieth century. An adult bird perches on a branch beside its nest. Two chicks are visible on the nest, built on possibly a mānuka or kāhikatoa. The adult is in the process of feeding one of the young birds.
