About this object
A postcard printed with a photograph of Heretaunga Street, Hastings. The photograph has been taken from an elevated position, looking towards the Havelock hills. Businesses visible down the street include B L Knight Coal and Timber Yards, R Holt (timber, wood and coal merchant), H Williams and Sons (ironmonger), R Hannah and Company (bootseller), and the Albert Hotel. A horse drawn cart and multiple pedestrians can be seen along the road. The railway line crosses Heretaunga Street in the foreground.

A message has been written in black ink along the bottom edge of the photograph. The note reads: Dear E. A happy Xmas and New Year to all. Much love from F M. The postcard is addressed on the back to: Mrs W Budd c/o Standard Bank, Pretoria, Transvaal, S[outh] Africa. A red One Penny stamp is affixed to the back of the postcard in the top right hand corner. The postcard has three date stamps. The first was made in Hastings on 10 November 1905, the second in Pretoria on 21 December 1905, and the third at Benoni on 22 December 1905.
