About this object
The photograph shows some of the damage caused by the 3rd of February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake at West Quay, Ahuriri. There are cracks in the road and the wharf on the left has been badly damaged. The truck, which could have belonged to Barry Bros Ltd, has had the back wheel caught in a crack in the road. The truck has been disabled and the sacks of coal have fallen off the back. The buildings on the right are out of plumb. The freezing works and Westshore can be seen in the distance.
