The photograph shows some of the damage caused by the 3rd of February 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake at West Quay, Ahuriri. There are demolished buildings visible at the end of the road. People are standing around talking. The road may be Custom Street, which faces the Iron Pot. The buildings on the right are out of plumb.
