About this object
The photograph is taken from Ahuriri looking towards the hill. It shows three carts drawn by horses with men holding the reins and a railway siding on which stands a rail cart. Surrounding the vehicles are piles of coal which men are shovelling onto the carts and the rail cart. There are bags of coal in the foreground. Timber is stacked behind the mounds of coal. In the background are buildings and behind can be seen private homes on Napier Hill. The carts probably belong to Barry Bros Ltd who were coal and timber merchants. Barry Bros coal and wood yards were located on Waghorne Street.
