About this object
Full length studio portrait of Dennis and Matilda Murphy of Dannevirke. Dennis is seated in a chair on the right side of the photograph. His wife Matilda stands to his right with one hand resting on the back of the chair and the other on the table beside her. She wears a black dress and her husband is attired in a suit with a black arm band, indicating that there has been a death in the family. Their daughter Norah Matilda Murphy died at age 11 of tuberculosis and meningitis in 1909.
