Upon looking at this photo again, I don't believe that it was clipped from the photo of Frederick Gascoyne and his wife Marion nee Carr, but in fact one taken separately at the same place and on the same date as the joint one - 25 Dec 1922. Major Fred Gascoyne's memoir, "Soldiering in New Zealand", is available to read online and for more information about Major F.J.W. Gascoyne and his somewhat eccentric family, Helena Drysdale's excellent book, titled "Strangerland", is well worth a read. I have also written a blog post about Major Gascoyne's nephew, Archie Gascoyne, which covers some of the Gascoyne family history, "Once were Eccentrics: Nelson identity Archie Gascoyne": http://rustlingsinthewind.blogspot.com/2019/07/once-were-eccentrics-nelson-identity.html

This clipped photograph of Major Frederick John William Gascoyne (1838-1926), oldest son of Major Charles Manners Gascoyne & Isabella nee Campbell, originally included his wife Marion and was taken in the garden of their Hastings home on 25 Dec 1922 to mark the occasion of their Golden (50th) Wedding Anniversary.
