View of a damaged road taken after the Hawke's Bay earthquake in 1931.

Part of the road on the left side of the photograph has subsided. Two cars are trapped in the damaged road surface. A group of men pose for the photograph beside one of the cars. The photograph is thought to have been taken along Embankment Road in Westshore.
