About this object
Full length studio portrait of two young women, possibly taken in the late nineteenth century. The two girls stand in front of a neutral backdrop. A chair covered with a fur throw is visible on the right side of the photograph. The girl on the left holds a book in her hands.

The photograph is housed in an album containing photographs of members of the Langley and Thayer families. The girls are identified on the album page as the daughters of Mrs Maddison. The Maddison family had three daughters, Alice Elizabeth, Eleanor Maria, and Annie Maud. It is unclear which two are pictured.

Photographer, J E and H Cobb.
