About this object
A photograph of the ruins of McRae's Hotel at Te Wairoa, following the Mount Tarawera eruption of 10 June 1886. The photograph is taken looking at the back of the hotel. The internal aspects of the hotel are visible. Remnants of the structure are partially submerged in piles of ash and volcanic outfall.
