About this object
A photograph of the ruins of the Te Mu Mission Church at Te Wairoa village, Rotorua, following the Mount Tarawera eruption of June 1886. The buildings are badly damaged with volcanic residue piled high around them. In the foreground there are many footprints and marks in the ash and mud covering the ground.
